BASI 2

A big couple of weeks for our team in Saas Fee.

We are already one day into the B.A.S.I. level 2 and it’s all going well. Our BASI trainer and assessor for the duration of the exam is Steve Rickets. Steve is quite a character and has worked in many of the premier ski destinations around the World.

The crew will be marked on one week of technical skiing and one week of teaching. They have all worked really hard to get to this part of the course and are fired up to learn new skills and consolidate old ones.

Over the weekend two of the lads had their birthdays. Amir was first up with his 35th birthday and Cookie was a big 19 years young. Needless to say it was good to see the guys out celebrating on Saturday night with friends. if i mentioned the phrase," seeing double, feeling single"  i don’t think any more needs be told. Happy birthday lads.

We have a new member in the group and are really pleased to welcome Bryony MacLaren. Bryony is from Cheshire in the U.K and works in the Chill Factory snow dome. She will attend the BASI 2 and then move across to Verbier to work for the rest of the season. Not an easy task to blend so well into a well established group right off the mark. Good skills.

On another note. We are really happy to see Jenny Holloway back in town. Jenny injured her knee a couple of weeks back putting an abrupt end to this seasons skiing. She is back for an appointment with the orthopaedic consultant in Switzerland to see what the best long term action plan is with her knee so she can be out doing some long radius carve turns before she knows it.

People have been watching the two ladies closely to see what they are eating for breakfast as all we see is smiling and laughing from the pair of them..

We have also finished the ILM training lectures and the guys have given some very credible and fun presentations. I am pleased to say the presentations were very good and nobody had to use the advice, “ if you haven’t struck oil in two minutes, stop boring!” .Well done crew and thanks for all the hard work on all aspects of the ILM training, particularly as it would happen generally after a hard days skiing. We have also completed the Snowsports Scotland qualification leaving a jam packed C.V for potential employers to fight over.

So folks, it’s all to play for, everybody is doing well so far. We’ll tune in soon with an update on the BASI 2 and any other craziness that goes on.

Cheers, Dave
