Puns aside, the Peak Leaders trainees here in Whistler are now avalanche aware. Over a two-day AST (Avalanche Skills Training) Course a combination of practical field exercises and theory sessions were delivered for the trainees to earn their qualification.   Having successfully completed Level 1 exams (with 100% pass rate…. wooo!) the crew in Whistler were rewarded with a trip out to the Callaghan Valley to try their hand at sledding. During the 2010 Olympics the Nordic events (Cross-country, Biathlon, Ski-Jumping) were held in this area, and the valley gets about 50% more snow [...]

BIG Congratulations to all the Peak Leaders trainees in Banff.  Everyone passed their respective CASI and CSIA Level 1′s yesterday!
