The Peak Leaders are back on the slopes training hard as the exams are just around the corner! We are so lucky to hit the pistes early in the mornings as they are always in perfect condition to nail some long turns and rip down the perfectly groomed corduroy slopes.

The time has come to take one step closer to becoming an instructor and this week was all about preparation for the exams. The Peak Leaders worked incredibly hard on their own skiing and perfecting their arcs down the mountain.

Technical skiing is only one part of the pathway to becoming a ski instructor … you also get examined on how to teach people to ski. That’s the most essential part of the job anyway … so it was time for everyone to have a go at teaching a lesson to the rest of the group in the BASI central theme, which is the progression from taking a complete beginner to become a parallel skier. It is quite nerve wracking teaching your peers in a fake environment … but there are definitely some awesome instructors in the making. Here is Bonnie imparting some wisdom to the group …

In the middle of the week a big storm hit Cerro Catedral and so we took the decision to have a mid-week break, rest our legs to be ready to training through the weekend in perfect conditions. As fate brought this storm in, it conveniently coincided with A level results and so a last-minute plan was hatched to go out in Bariloche and celebrate!

Bariloche is a big town with 150,000 people living there, so it’s a pretty big place with lots of awesome bars and clubs to sample … a popular haunt for the group is The Viking Bar to enjoy some drinks and the great atmosphere. The trainees love it because it’s a smaller friendlier place who they have got to know the Argentinian owner well which always helps in a bar! As you can see the girls were having a great time …

The weekend became important training days for the Peak Leaders team as they worked hard to improve their own skiing before starting the Level 1 on Monday. Justy made a final appearance for the last training session, our legendary coach has become a firm favourite of the team and his wise words have helped and motivated everyone on the course. Here is a picture of him, along with Jake and the full team of Peak Leaders after their final day of training.

Congratulations to all the Peak Leaders for working so hard during the last month of training. So now it is game time … to put all this hard work and training into practice and impress the BASI examiners during their level 1 next week. We are still only half way through this epic eight week course so there is still lots of skiing to do … Good Luck to all the Peak Leaders Team on their BASI Level 1!
