BARILOCHE 2018 – WEEK 5

THE BASI LEVEL 1 HAS KICKED OFF…

Finally, the time has come and it’s time for BASI Level 1! For the past four weeks the Peak Leaders have been training hard and now it is time for the trainees to put their skills to the test! Jas Bruce and Tom Waddington are the two expert BASI trainers who are training and assessing the groups over the next four weeks.

Jas and Tom are both members of the BASI National Education Team and they treated the groups to a few early morning turns to get them in the right frame of mind!

It’s easy to forget that the Peak Leaders are training in such an amazing mountain environment in August our summer … but every now and again it’s important to take a look around and appreciate the stunning beauty of Cerro Catedral.

This weekend the Peak Leaders enjoyed a well-deserved rest on the Saturday. It was especially needed after a week of full on skiing and then a night of celebrating hard.

On Sunday the group went off to explore the vast Lake – Nahuel Huapi and took a boat to the nearby Victoria Island. A great way to relax and unwind after a busy week enjoying the stunning views and floating along on the water.

Next week the Peak Leaders have a training week with Jas and Tom before the Level 2 exam. As everyone is now qualified ski instructors … the next step will be learning new skills and developing existing ones to become even better instructors with a higher qualification!
