SAAS FEE 2018 – WEEK 1

Our awesome autumn Saas Fee ski instructor course has kicked off high up on the glacier in the Swiss Alps. This is an epic time of year to be skiing, training and learning how to become a brilliant skier and teacher. It is the perfect course to do, as everyone gains their qualification before the winter even starts.

We’re incredibly lucky to be based at the Park Hotel once again with it’s fantastic location and amazingly welcoming staff. It looks great too!

Saas Fee is an extremely popular place for so many athletes from Alpine World Cup teams to Freestyle pros because it has such amazing facilities on and off snow.

In fact, so far the group have bumped into (or followed!) a few top class athletes including Chloe Kim (Olympic snowboard halfpipe champion) and Etienne Geoffroy (freestyle skier).

On the first weekend the new team settle in and explore the magical old town itself, followed by a hike to check out the amazing scenery from up above. And the water wheel is moving in the photo … ski coach Will Peek spent ages trying to get that effect!

The conditions on the Mountain are excellent as luckily fresh snow arrived to welcome the new team to the mountains with the sun shining down on the powder for their first day back on skis!

Each morning one of the Peak Leaders sets a warm up for everyone to get them both physically and mentally ready for the day ahead. It’s important to get everyone in the right state of mind so that they are ready to learn about new concepts and try out new moves while hurtling down the mountain. It’s also a great way of getting people used to delivering to the rest of the group.

The après ski activities are brilliant with awesome sports pitches just under the lifts including five a side football pitches, tennis courts, and even beach Volleyball! As soon as the Peak Leaders heard about the beach Volleyball they were straight down to try it out! Everyone’s competitive definitely started to surface…

And after all that there was some time for a couple of drinks on Friday to celebrate a great first week of training!
