Winter in Queenstown is one long party that kicks off with the opening of Coronet Peak ski resort. Queenstown is the "adventure capital of the world": you can bungee jump, heli-ski, sky-dive, luge, horse-ride, ice-skate, jet boat - and of course ski and ride till you drop! The list goes on and on. With time off, everyone scrambles to all these activities whenever they can.
Queenstown is extremely popular with backpackers resulting in plenty bars, restaurants, cafes, shops and clubs. The crew often becomes regulars in many of the bars, and you could almost say, locals.
In September, The Remarkables Spring Festival is a riot of snow sports and crazy events. The Queenstown Big Air is always a good night. Another highlight is the annual Birdman competition; Involving people throwing themselves off Queenstown Pier, dressed up and in the most ridiculous contraptions you can imagine all in the name of a laugh.
