Peak Leaders Whistler Mountain Bike Instructor Development Camp

Become a qualified Whistler Bike Park Instructor through the Whistler Blackcomb Instructor Development Programme (IDP) and be a part of the Kokanee Crankworx Freeride MTB Festival! Whistler Blackcomb pro coaches will guide you through the IDP levels 1 and 2 - Leaving you ready to get paid to ride the best trails on the planet!

Whistler has over 250 km of lift-serviced, gravity fed trails. Every style of mountain biking is catered for and the trails are constantly updated and improved so you will never get bored. The trails are colour coded depending on their level of difficulty, just like ski pistes. They range from green beginner runs to double black diamond trails for the experts. Tight technical single track to fast jump trails, steep roots and rocks, to North Shore obstacles and World Cup standard downhill. There is something to challenge everyone and your riding will progress at an unimaginable rate! There are also the progressive skills centres, the jump park and drop off park to hone your skills. And the Boneyard Slopestyle Park with a dizzying array of obstacles to tackle. Click for a map of Whistler Bike Park.  Or click to watch a video of the the 2009 Whistler Mountain Bike Instructor Development Camp.

Equipment

We've secured a great deal for you with the Whistler Blackcomb Bike Rental Department, if you're thinking of purchasing a bike. If you use and then purchase the rental bike after 2 days of renting you will get a refund on the rental (refund will be for a maximum of 2 days rental). You'll also be able to receive staff pricing on used Kona Stab Garbanzo Downhill bikes. Just ask us for more info.

If you would rather bring your own bike with you we will happily transport it to resort from the airport. We recommend at least 5 inches (130mm) of travel for full sus bikes, or if you’re a hardtail rider, a freeride style frame with minimum 4 inch (100mm) forks and disc brakes.  Whistler Bike Park is a big place for big bikes though and you will get the most from you time there on a Downhill or Freeride bike with 7 or 8 inches of travel.

We also have secured a special rate for rental of protective equipment if you need to hire some.  Your own riding clothes, shoes and cross country style helmet are essential and a full face helmet and body armour are highly recommended.  Don’t forget your sunglasses or dark goggle lenses for riding too, you’ll be riding in the sun!
