Employment – Members Area
EMPLOYMENT
Welcome to the Employment area.
We know how tough it is getting a job in ski teaching, so we have put together as much information as we can for you here.
We have some great partnerships in place with the ski schools all around the world, so the information below should really help you get your foot in the door.
The following list of partners work closely with us, guaranteeing an interview to applicants and recruiting directly from Peak Leaders for their winter season and some guarantee jobs for our trainees.
Our partners reserve a set number of jobs for our trainees and the jobs are given following an interview.
Meanwhile we are here to help you as much as we can to get your job arranged.
When applying to a partner you must say you are applying from Peak Leaders so they know you are coming from our course.
BREXIT
Due to the UK leaving the EU, British passport-holders lost the right to work in European Union countries but also in Switzerland.
However there are now opportunities to work in Italy and we are awaiting new agreements between the UK and Switzerland on work permits.
However currently it is not possible for British instructors to work in Switzerland.
But there is progress and the Swiss have now introduced new Student Permits that should allow trainees to stay in Switzerland for the whole season and not just be restricted to 90 days – which is the normal rule for non-EU citizens.
Brexit should not effect the ability of trainees to work in other countries outside Europe – for example in New Zealand or Japan.
Plus there are work opportunities for British instructors in Canada, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
WHEN AND HOW TO APPLY
Most schools are recruiting between May and September but there are often spaces right up until the winter starts. But it’s important to be organised and sort your CV and covering letter out early so ideally you can apply for jobs as soon as you can.
Don’t worry if you are applying later in the autumn there are still jobs available, but it is always good to get ahead of the game.
You can also check out our sample CV and Tips below. It’s really important to make time to do this which is the first step towards applying for a job.
There is also a database full of ski school contacts around the world. It is always good to apply to as many schools as possible.
REMEMBER VISAS
Remember to check out our VISA section too before applying for jobs, especially for applications for jobs in Canada which need to be organised well in advance.
If you are non-EU then requirements and travel rights can be quite different so it’s well worth doing some extra research to see where you can work and how far in advance you need to apply. We have a lot of information and experience so definitely get in touch (although we aren’t experts on every single country’s visa requirements).
Good luck and remember we’re always here to help.

School Information:
Myoko Snowsports is a medium-sized snowsports school of approximately 80 instructors, and we also operate an equipment rental & retail shop. We have grown from a small group of 13 since we started operations 10 years ago.
Despite getting bigger, we continue our ‘family feel’ and want you to have an amazing season working and living with us, and experiencing Japanese culture and powder.
We are located on Japan’s main island Honshu, about 2.5 hours’ bullet train ride from Tokyo. We offer a full range of lesson programs for guests across two locations: Akakura and Arai.
Job Information:
Our new team members arrive to Myoko around the start of December to move into staff housing and settle in before commencing orientation and start of season training. December and January are our busiest months and you can expect full-time work of 5-6 days per week.
In addition to teaching lessons we also provide training in rentals, and there are additional shifts available in the shop through the season. Work slowly gets quieter through February and March, so this means more time for free-skiing, training and fun.
Who they are looking for:
We have a limited number of positions available for the winter season. They are available for application to those preferably aged 20 or above, but we are happy to interview younger applicants. You must be able to get an approved Working Holiday Visa to Japan and then arrive beginning of December (date TBC).
We pride ourselves on our positive attitude towards teamwork, customer service, and Japanese culture, and expect the same from our new team members each year.

Nozawa Onsen, Japan
GUARANTEED JOBS (4 REMAINING)
School Information:
Canyons run ski school operations in Nozawa Onsen, Yuzawa and Minakami. All of these resorts are rich in culture with a long-standing history and endless deep powder days.
Be part of a vibrant international team in a rapidly developing region of Japan. Huge annual snowfall, competitive pay rates based on experience, and fantastic resorts.
Here is a bit more information on the resorts ..
Don’t apply for Myoko or Minakami – these resorts need experienced instructors.
Yuzawa has a smaller nightlife and a more Asian customer base. it’s a smaller team (~40). Tends to have lower-level clients so is well suited to new instructors getting to grips with teaching. Probably better to slightly older (+25) staff, or those that aren’t to fussed about plenty of bars to choose from. Great easy access to Tokyo and may other resorts
Nozawa – traditional old shool village, tricky to get to other resorts. plenty of choice for bars. Tends to have more high level students – so would be looking fro more skilled instructors/ those with relevant sports coaching backgrounds. Larger team (~70)
Job Information:
At Canyons we strive to foster a supportive and enthusiastic work environment. We have been working toward this through effective communication, structured training based on the teams wants and needs, and an environment where everyone feels valued.

Mount Seymour (Vancouver), Canada
GUARANTEED JOBS (6 REMAINING)

We provide lessons to local Vancouverties and their families—a mix of private lessons, multi-day camps and group lessons for ages 3 – 100! We have a dedicated area called the ‘Bears Den’ for our youngest students aged 3 – 7 and 4 terrain parks where we teach our freestyle programs.
In addition, Mt Seymour runs a large schools program – teaching more than 10 000 students in our school’s program each winter season. This keeps our full-time instruction staff busy in the traditionally ‘quiet’ times, mid-week – outside of the holidays.
Our orientation training begins in early December, and the season runs till mid-April. On-going training is available for instructors wanting to continue their career progression.
