WHAT IF I NEED TO QUARANTINE? EASY…
QUARANTINE REGULATIONS CHANGE QUICKLY,
BUT WE CAN ADAPT QUICKLY TOO
The situation with quarantine has been fairly stable for a while.
But with fluctuations of Covid cases in some countries the quarantine rules will change all over the world. That includes the Swiss authorities changing the list of nationalities that require quarantine when you get to Switzerland.
So what happens, for example, if you need to quarantine when you arrive in Switzerland?
WHY WOULD IT HAPPEN AND WHAT WOULD IT MEAN?
The Swiss rules on quarantine are simple and clear.
They have a “high risk” list that is regularly updated.
The rule is (currently) that if you have been in a “high risk” country within the last 14 days you need to quarantine for ten days upon arrival in Switzerland.
This could be because your home nation is a high risk nation, or you transit a high risk nation on your journey to Switzerland.
A significant exception is that, despite the UK being on the high risk list, British nationals arriving from the UK do not need to quarantine.
Once you arrive in the airport you would be allowed to travel to your destination – if that required public transport you would be obliged to respect the Swiss social distancing rules and wear a mask at all times.
WHAT WOULD PEAK LEADERS DO?
Well, first of all ten days in quarantine is not that long in the context of a nine or ten week course.
So we would recommend you simply come out ten days before you course is due to start.
Depending on your course and if you were travelling alone or with friends, we would arrange a comfortable quarantine location where you would need to stay for the ten days.
The quarantine is fairly comprehensive – basically stay home and you cannot leave until you’re quarantine is over.
So we would arrange food deliveries, be in constant contact and we would also be able to provide some pre-course work – from reading the manuals and watching technical videos to fitness plans and advice.
We would also help with the mandatory registration with the local authorities to inform them you are someone in quarantine.
As soon as the time is up you would be able to start the course – if everything has worked out with your initial travel that means just starting the course with everyone else as normal.
WHAT ARE THE KEY FACTORS?
We would definitely try to arrange for you to have outdoor space – we think that is vital. And we would be able to use our local contacts to arrange all this as cheaply as possible.
It’s not possible to give an exact price now as it would depend on if you were in quarantine alone, if you wanted to self-cater or be catered, etc.
But if you think this might apply to you we can arrange this very quickly.
WHERE CAN I FIND OUT MORE?
You can follow the risk list on the Swiss authorities page here.
And you can read there summary the rules on entering Switzerland here.
You can also read the terms of quarantine here (PDF download).
But we really want to make clear that whatever happens, safety is our top priority on any course. It’s what we do all the time – on the mountain and off it.
So the Covid situation is just a new and unexpected problem, but we are committed to keeping everyone as safe as possible, just like normal.
In adding is worth noting that Switzerland is currently rated the best prepared nation in the world for the Coronavirus.
As always, if you would like to talk about this and ask a few questions we are always happy to arrange a call.
So just get in touch.
