May is an exciting time of the year for the team at Peak Leaders. We’ve run some really successful courses over the winter but there’s no time to relax because it’s time for us to get ready for a summer of Mountain Biking at Whistler Bike Park and winter down in Argentina and New Zealand.

Whistler Coaches Hiring Camp

First off it’s time for our Mountain Bikers to head to Whistler for the coaches hiring camp. This is a three week course which starts on the 13 May and not only trains course goers to be IDP level 2 Mountain Bike instructors but also acts as a hiring process for Whistler Mountain Bike who will be recruiting their summer guiding/instructing staff directly from the course, providing trainees have the appropriate work VISA or residency status. New Zealand Ski & Snowboard Instructor Course

Next up is our NZSIA/SBINZ ski and snowboard instructor course down in Queenstown, New Zealand. Queenstown is the extreme sports capital of the World and for 3 months of the southern hemisphere’s winter it is the wintersports capital of the World. Besides Queenstown being a fantastic party town with lots of bars and things to throw yourself off it’s also a fantastic base from which to explore New Zealand’s Southern Alps and is an awesome venue to complete an instructor training course. The NZSIA/SBINZ system is highly regarded across the Snowsports world and the facilities that are available to our trainees at Coronet Peak and the Remarkables are World class, you’ll even have the opportunity to go Heli-skiing/boarding. Argentina Ski & Snowboard Instructor Course

New Zealand and Australia aren’t the only winter destinations where you can ski in the southern hemisphere; Argentina is home to one of the largest mountain ranges in the World, the Andes, which span the entire length of the country. Peak Leaders have been running our ski and snowboard instructor course down in beautiful Bariloche for the past 12 years and believe that as well as being a fantastic opportunity to qualify as a ski/snowboard instructor over the summer it is also an unforgettable cultural experience. The resort of Cerro Catedral is the largest in South America and has some fantastic pistes, epic freeriding terrain and one of the best parks in Argentina. This course also gives you the opportunity to qualify as a BASI ski or snowboard instructor well before the beginning of the winter season in the Northern hemisphere. Argentina Freestyle & Freeride Snowboard Camp

For those snowboarders out there who want to take their snowboarding to the next level but don’t have the time to complete a 9-week instructor qualification or just want to progress their freeride and freestyle skills this course is the perfect opportunity. Our Freestyle and Freeride camp is a 3-week training programme run by local freeride legend Marki Green who will not only get you perfecting those spins in the park but will also  improve your freeriding and knowledge of the backcountry. Whistler Mountain Bike Coaches Camp

Want to take your Mountain Biking to the next level? Our 5-week coaches camp in Whistler starts on 6 August and takes advantage of some fantastic August weather, the best Mountain Bike park in the world, coaching from the best coaches in the business, luxurious accommodation and the course dates coincide with Crankworx the biggest Mountain Bike specific festival in the World. Saas Fee Ski & Snowboard Instructor Course

As summer draws to a close we move our operation back to Europe and begin training instructors for the busy winter season ahead. If you’re planning on taking a gap year or sabbatical it’s a huge advantage to qualify before the beginning of the winter season; this allows you to apply for jobs before the start of the season and earn money throughout the season as a BASI qualified ski or snowboard instructor. On our 2012 instructor course all of our trainees passed their BASI level 2 exam and all of those that wanted to work the winter season as an instructor found employment! Saas Fee is an awesome place to spend autumn,  it has; a world class snowboard park, fantastic pistes, training from our experienced team of BASI qualified trainers and a really chilled-out vibe in the town.
