VERBIER 2018-19 – WEEK 1

Winter is here and we have another team of excited trainees starting their journey towards qualifying as ski instructors!

We have been very lucky to enjoy awesome conditions for the first week of training here in Verbier. We already have a lot of pistes open and we have perfect, super grippy winter snow, giving us the best conditions to train towards the level 1 BASI instructor exam.

First up this week, the trainees had the opportunity to get to know each other and also find their way around the town.

Verbier is one of Europe’s premier ski resorts, with 400km of piste and some of the best and most accessible off-piste in the world. From cruisy blues to the infamous Tortin itinerary, Verbier has something for everyone!

The first week of training for our trainees is all about learning the fundamentals of skiing and how we can use them to teach skiing, but also develop our own skiing performance.

Here’s Jake and Will coaching the trainees how to perform the perfect demo…

This year we are very pleased to have our trainees located in the Mont Gelé hotel, situated literally right next to Médran in the centre of Verbier! The hotel is ski in, ski out, sat right next to the home run into town! Not many people in Verbier can claim that!

The highlight of this week though, has to be the synchronised skiing competition on Friday afternoon. All three groups battled it out to see who could put down the best synchronised skiing run. We let the people of instagram decide the winner but Will’s team came out on top, to claim bragging rights over the other teams!

It has been a really productive week and the trainees have been making some excellent improvements, so with one more week of training they are looking good for their level 1 exam!
