VERBIER 2018-19 – WEEK 2

It’s week 2 on the Verbier course and it has been snowing!! Winter is well and truly here, with around 40cm of new snow falling in town and even more in the ski area.

As you can see here, Verbier looks pretty awesome in winter! That day the team were able to ski over in the Savoleyres ski area for the first time this season…

For this time of year the snow is amazing, it looks like it is going to be another cracker of a season, just like last year! The Verbier 4 Vallées is an enormous ski area and it doesn’t take long for them to start opening up all the lifts, so we are already now able to ski a massive variety of pistes in the area.

The snow has been so perfect on piste that the trainees have been practicing getting their hip on the floor through their carve turns, here’s Jonah getting low!

On of the main focusses for this week was teaching and how we teach beginners how to ski for the first time. The trainees must learn the ideal progression for a complete novice to parallel skier, how to demonstrate it and most importantly, how to teach it!

So this week the trainees had the opportunity to teach their first practice sessions to the rest of the group, taking short 15 minute sessions so they are ready for their BASI level 1 exam next week!

Here are a few of them after a successful teaching session…

At the end of another successful week of training and with the trainees well prepared for their BASI level 1 exam, it was time to let their hair down with some après ski and a night out in Verbier!

Good luck to all of the trainees on their exam next week!
