SAAS FEE 2019 – WEEKS 2 & 3

And just like that the first 3 weeks of training have shot by…

It’s been getting colder over the last two weeks and we’ve had a couple of awesome powder days. It certainly feels like winter is on the way now!

Conditions on the glacier have been ideal for training and the Peak Leaders trainees have worked hard both on their technical and teaching skills so that they are ready to tackle the BASI Level 1 exam.

The Peak Leaders have a packed programme of skiing, video analysis, fitness sessions and servicing skis. So there’s always lots to do!

However the weekends are their time and whilst many of the trainees choose to ski again on Saturday to practice newly learned skills it’s important they take time out to rest and relax.

And when you’re in a spectacular place like Saas Fee then it’s easy to do that. David certainly found a good spot…

As well as honing their own technical skiing skills the Peak Leaders need to learn to teach potential clients how to build on existing skills.

This is an essential part of becoming a ski instructor. Being able to perform a skill is half the battle, teaching skills to other people is just as important.

Check out the video of Noah showing off his favourite skill. We’re not sure he can make a lesson out of it just yet though…

The Peak Leaders have been training hard, both off and on the glacier. For 3 weeks they’ve put in the hard work and are all in a good place to take on the challenge of the BASI level 1.

It’s a tough week with lots to do but the trainees have a great chance to impress their BASI examiners and show them that their technical skiing and teaching skills are at the level required.

So good luck everyone and let battle commence!
