VERBIER 2019-20 – WEEKS 1 & 2
Following another successful pre season course in Saas Fee, we have kicked off again in Verbier with 26 new instructor trainees looking forward to 10 jam packed weeks of skiing, training and probably a little partying! With some hard work and dedication we hope to have 26 more level 2 qualified BASI instructors teaching around the alps! Check out the new team!
Fortunately our prayers to the snow gods were answered, with a perfectly timed snowfall bringing us 20-30cm of fresh snow during our welcome weekend! This was the view from one of our trainee chalets on arrivals day!
In Verbier we are lucky enough to have two awesome locations for our trainee accommodation, with one located right next to Place Centrale, slap bang in the middle of Verbier. Meanwhile, the other is a short walk away, right next door to the brand new, state of the art, sports centre. Our trainee’s have the most convenient access to everything they might need while they are training with us. They even have free access to a swimming pool, spa and gym!!
After a weekend of arrivals, orientation around town and some time for everyone to get to know each other, the trainees hit the slopes on Monday morning to get cracking with their instructor training. We literally couldn’t have asked for better conditions….
In week 1 of training our trainees begin to learn all the components that make up good skiing. This not only allows them to improve their own skiing ability, but also provides the foundations of knowledge for them to teach others how to ski!
Our coaches, Jake, Emma, Will and Jack made the most of the perfect conditions and quiet pistes, and after just one week the trainees made some awesome changes to their skiing.
Week 2 offered up some more mixed weather, with some challenging weather days on the mountain. Although this can sometimes be tough at the time, it is great for developing our skiing and when the weather cleared the powder skiing was amazing! Light, knee deep powder for the last day of training was pretty awesome!
Now it is time for the trainee’s to take on the BASI level 1 exam, after which, we will have a whole new bunch of qualified ski instructors! Any stress about the oncoming exam was quickly forgotten with views like this on the way down on Friday afternoon…
