SAAS FEE 2021 – BLOG 1: GETTING STARTED
Peak Leaders Saas Fee 2021 is go!
The new team of Peak Leaders have arrived, everyone is excited to get skiing and the glacier is in perfect condition.
Whilst it’s been sunny in town, the skies are clear and the snow is amazing up top!
As usual the course is based at the amazing Park Hotel where we’ve been since Peak Leaders started running courses here nearly 20 years ago!
Over the 9 week course the Peak Leaders will work on their own skiing, learn to teach people how to ski, work on video analysis, fitness, avalanche awareness and also build an understanding of the ski industry.
Some people are on the course as part of their gap year, some people because they want a career change or some as a career break. Whichever it is, the group quickly bond and are all super focused on getting better at skiing, learning loads and having an epic time!
Saas Fee is an awesome place to come and ski in the autumn and that’s why so many of the best skiers and snowboarders in the World are here right now! It’s truly an inspirational place teaming with freestyle skiers and boarders pulling massive tricks in the huge park or racers expertly carving down one of the many GS or Slalom courses.
The Peak Leaders have worked hard, trained hard and played hard! 3 weeks have flown by (as always!) and next up for the trainees is their BASI level 1 exam. This can sound ominous (ah, exams!) but in fact the BASI exams are an excellent opportunity for candidates to sharpen their skills and boost their skiing knowledge. They spend a week with great coaches who are trying to help them become better skiers and teachers.
And so now we’re getting deep into October and the colours are amazing but the days are also beginning to get shorter and colder so winter is on it’s way!
Good luck to everyone on the level 1 exam next week – smash it!
