WHY DO WE SPECIALISE IN SWISS COURSES?

BECAUSE WE THINK IT’S THE BEST COUNTRY
TO BECOME A SKI INSTRUCTOR.

(BUT WE’RE A BIT BIASED…)

A lot of companies offer Gap courses all over the place.

But we have always been keen to be based in resorts we know inside out.

Which is why, after decades of running course across the globe, we now only run courses here in Switzerland.

We’re based here, we’ve all taught here for years, and we can’t think of a better place to train as a ski instructor.

It’s become home.

SO WHY SWITZERLAND?

Well, the first point is that the Swiss are very open to people teaching here with all sorts of qualifications.

So, unlike France and quite a few other nations, you can teach with your INITIAL BASI exams (BASI 1 and 2) as soon as you qualify – and you don’t need to be fully certified (BASI 4).

For us that’s a big deal – and a big reason to run ski instructor training courses here, because subject to a work permit you can work here straight after your course.

In fact, quite a few of us either trained here to kickstart our careers or got our first jobs here.

Or both…

Plus things are starting to look promising for British instructors getting permits again after Brexit.

BUT THAT’S NOT ALL…

Of course, we live here – so we’re biased.

But there are many reasons that we all chose Switzerland.

The mountains, the skiing terrain, the culture, the resorts themselves, the people, the après ski, the job opportunities and many more reasons besides…

But because we are all based here, it means we know these resorts like the back of our hands – we know where it’s best to train, where to learn moguls, where to carve, where you can explore (safely) off-piste and where to ski when the weather closes in.

We also know all the ski schools in the area (and beyond), so we can help you get work after you finish your course.

WHY DON’T WE RUN COURSES ELSEWHERE?

Well, in the past Peak Leaders ran courses everywhere – from Argentina to Europe to New Zealand.

But over the years we saw that the best way to make sure every trainee had the best possible time on every course was to be focussed on key resorts.

And for us that meant concentrating on fewer resorts – so we hand-picked the ones we liked best and had the best opportunities.

In the end, that meant Switzerland.

SO WHERE IN SWITZERLAND ARE WE?

We have two Swiss bases.

The amazing high glacial resort of Sass Fee – perfect for autumn courses and pre-season exams.

Then we haver Verbier – the legendary resort with terrain that’s even more famous than some of the celebrities who ski here.

Verbier is also where our office is and where most of our coaches live – many of us living here year-round.

We certainly miss some of the exotic locations we used to run courses, but in truth we want to make your course the best it can possibly be, and that means concentrating on the resorts we know best.
